MARIA VANNUCCI – FOUNDER AND OWNER
Maria is single with one child and 2 grandchildren. Matriculated at Jeppe High School for Girls in 1987 and pursued her studied at Wits University to obtain Accounting Degree in 1990.
In 1994, Maria was a certified registered professional accountant with SAIPA and Registered Tax Practitioner with SAIT and COTE. She took an interest in Business rescue psychology and turnarounds of businesses experiencing financial distress. During 1990’s, business rescue was a topic seldom discussed in corporate corridors, however the gap for this niche professional service was wide and greatly demanded. Business Rescue was mostly practiced and applied internationally. In 1997, Maria obtained a certificate in Business Psychology and Change Management. Over the years with determination and perseverance, Marican continued improving specialized professional services to all types of business sectors and, in particular – Franchising. Maricans’ professional journey of 21 years, is built on solid rigid principles, high energy and winning results.
In 2005, Maria was invited to speak at 702, Business Talk to present a two week talk show on “How to turnaround your business” and “How to design your Turnaround Business Plan”. The show proved to be successful with 7687 website hits.
During early 2006, Maria wrote a Business Pocket Book on Turnaround for Small Business together with a simple ‘Business Health Monitor and Score” that will assist the consultant to determine the level of financial distress and recommended turnaround plan for an easy start. The scorecard has an interpretation of various Life Cycle stages (depending on the score), warning signs and owner behaviour to be aware of.

Beauty Mashinini – Receptionist and Office Administrator
Born in 1987 in Alexandra and completed high school at Northview high school. She continued at a tertiary level at Tshwane University of Technology and completed a one year course in CRIMINOLOGY AND VICTIMOLOGY. She has been employed with Marican since 2011. She is a single parent a of one (boy) . She has a fun loving ‘bubbly’ personality and enjoys people! Beauty has tactful, respectable and friendly telephonic skills. She also is responsible for record keeping and storage.
Mike Wightman – Accountant
Mike is a general accountant whose experience ranges from auditing, accounting, finance and taxation. He hold a Bachelor of Accounting Science from University of South Africa. Mike’s love for crunching numbers emanate from the aptitude of numbers itself. Currently, Mike is pursuing the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant professional membership. From a leisure perspective, Mike enjoys travelling ,watching cricket and reading widely.
Shelene Nokraj – Senior Accountant and Office Manager
Shelene matriculated in KZN in 1997.She then went on to obtain a National Diploma in Accounting in 2000. Shelene started working as an Accounting clerk in a small accounting / auditing company in 2001 and her experience ranges from accounting, taxation of small businesses to consulting for various entities. Whilst employed, she registered for a financial degree through UNISA and completed that in 2005.
She relocated to Gauteng in 2006 where she joined Marian Incorporated as a Portfolio Accountant and developed to Senior Accounting level. She also has in-depth knowledge in Franchise Accounting and drives our National Franchise Accounting Program. She manages a national franchise group to the value of 1 billion annual turnover. Her duties cover all accounting and tax duties with compilation, compliance reporting, statutory returns and financial reports.
Jennifer Main – Specialised Bookkeeping
Jenny has been employed with Marican since 2009. She is Married with 3 Children and 4 grandchildren. She matriculated in 1975 and has a passion for Lawn Bowls. Jenny is currently president of Hobbies Lawn Bowls and enjoys reading and music.
Sibongile Mevasania Mashaba – Assistant to Senior Accountant and Audit Manageress
Born in 1986 and raised in Gauteng, completed matric in 2004 at Erasmus Monareng High School, In 2005 went to further my studies at Boston Business College in Alberton.
Studied Diploma in Assistant Accountant received the following certificates, Advanced Accounting (FMI), Business Accounting (FMI), Computerised accounting (Pastel), Practical Bookkeeping level 1 and 2, Intermediate Accounting Level 1 and 2, Excel 2003 and Excel Advanced, in 2007 I joined Marican Incorporated as a Filling Clerk and Assisting with data Capturing. Over the past years I developed my skills to assist senior management. In 2011, I Registered with UNISA Studying Diploma in Accounting Sciences.
Barbara Faria – Client Relations and Marketing
Barbara joined Marican in 2010 and is Married with 3 Children. She matriculated in 1996 and has a passion for Art and photography. She also has extensive knowledge in social media marketing and advertising. She ensures that our website is updated daily with the latest newsletters and legislation, mailing to clients, updating facebook, twitter, linkedIn and our latest blog.
Dudu Mthembu – Data Capture and Filing Clerk
Born in 1992 and a single mother of 2 children. Matriculated in 2010 and personal hobbies are playing netball ,hockey and reading books. DuDu joined Marican in 2011 and assists Senior Accountant with data capturing to Trial Balance.
